The problem now is property managers or even anyone with no property have access to the application and will only pay a percentage of booking fee when they get booking from any of these channels. This introduces a lot of spam account and fraudsters.

To understand the problem statement, we need to understand the cause. So our first step is to look at how other companies with similar services approached this problem.

Competitive Analysis
First, I curated a list of channel management software to do a competitive analysis of this feature. I compared three channel managing software here - Smoobu, Uplisting and Lodgify. While all three platforms excel in channel management, automation, and catering to vacation rental needs, the choice depends on users’ specific requirements, preferences, and levels of expertise. Smoobu might suit users prioritizing simplicity and efficiency, while Uplisting and Lodgify offer more customization options and potentially greater complexity but they all have a free trial for each user.

To learn from real users - Property managers - I sent out a google form to my connections, facebook and reddit groups for property and hotel managers. I got 10 responses (this was mainly because of the time constraints), I then synthensized their responses as seen below.

After gathering solutions from the research study, I created a user flow diagram to better understand how users can easily navigate the pricing information, customize their plan to meet their specific needs, and experience the software's capabilities.

Learnings & Takeaway
Learnings & Takeaway
Learnings & Takeaway
Through the course of executing this project in the last one week, I was able to pen down some learnings:
Propose a compelling value: Ensuring that product features and pricing structures align with user expectations and their perceived value is crucial. By incorporating key features identified by users and offering free trials to showcase the software's value, we can attract and retain customers more effectively.
Design a pleasant experience: Because users can get bored of long forms, I divided the registration process into steps. This gives the users a sense of progress without feeling overwhelmed
Communicate clearly: Prioritizing the needs and preferences of users is essential for designing successful products. By focusing on clear and transparent communication, customizable pricing plans, and intuitive interfaces, It can enhance user satisfaction and drive engagement.
Align business objectives with project goals: It's important to align product goals and requirements with broader business objectives. By addressing the problem of pricing and payment while also focusing on decreasing churn rate, we can create a product that not only meets user needs, but also drives business success.
Be flexible and adaptable: The importance of flexibility and adaptability to the ever changing user preferences and market landscape cannot be overstated. By offering flexible pricing plans and feature customization we can cater to diverse needs and stay competitive in the market.

This project offered me an extensive learning opportunity - from understanding the problem statement to conducting research, drawing competitive analysis and coming up with a solution, all in the span of 7 days. I have again learnt the importance of deeply understanding user needs, aligning product goals with business objectives, and continuously iterating and refining the product to drive success in the marketplace.
