General Overview

During a span of one month, I collaborated with other stake holders to redesign the housing platform used by property providers, students, and staff across all campuses of the University of London. The main focus of this project was to enhance the platform's usability.

To commence the project, I thoroughly examined the existing version of the platform to understand how it can be better.  Additionally, I reviewed documentation that encompassed real user data, their pain points and overall UX issues regarding the platform, as well as suggestions for improvement. This research process provided me with an understanding of the underlying business model, which informed all of my design decisions at every stage of the project

Redesigning The Dashhboard

Redesigning The Dashhboard

In response to user feedback regarding the lack of intuitiveness and user-friendliness of the old dashboard, my initial focus was on designing an easy-to-use and accessible dashboard specifically for all user groups( property providers, students, and staff of the University of London. This new dashboard aimed to address their needs by providing a centralized platform where they could effortlessly access their listed properties, monitor the performance of their listings and view recent activities.

From the new design:

  • The property provider can see their recent listing and activities, they can list a new property which is their aim, and also see the total listing and its overview.

  • Property providers can now save drafts property and this can be accessed with just a single click. This streamlined approach aimed to make the process of managing and editing property drafts much more efficient for property providers.

For Tenants

I designed an updated dashboard specifically for tenants, they could optimize their property search based on various criteria, such as campus, location proximity, price, move in and out date and also through an interactive map interface. This helps tenants with more flexible and convenient options when looking for suitable housing options within the University of London's housing platform.

Summary

Throughout this project, my focus was mainly towards providing direction and ease for users.

For property providers, I created a new dashboard that offered basic functionality, making it easier for them to manage their listed properties, monitor performance, and view recent activities. Taking user complaints into consideration, I ensured that property providers could list a property directly from their dashboard, streamlining the process.

For tenants, I developed an updated dashboard that allowed them to search properties based on university affiliation, location, and even through an interactive map. Moreover, I improved the overall user experience of the platform by introducing features like sorting options, grid and list view, and filtering capabilities, providing users with more control and flexibility.

Overall, the redesign and incorporation of these new features have significantly enhanced the usability and user experience of the University of London's housing platform, addressing user concerns and making it more intuitive and user-friendly.
